Andrew Ngai has 13 years of experience as an actuary in Australia and overseas, having worked as a consultant at PwC, Willis Towers Watson, and Taylor Fry. He advises numerous injury schemes, insurers, and government clients in the health and
social sectors, and specializes in using advanced analytics to help his clients make better policy, pricing, and operational decisions.
Andrew is a two-time Microsoft Excel World Champion (2021 and 2022) and was the
Financial Modeling World Champion in 2019.
Data analysis is only useful if it is effectively translated into meaningful insight and action. Too often, data analysts perform high-quality technical work, only for their efforts to be wasted when the insights are lost in translation.
Data visualization is key to this, as a picture is worth a thousand words. Visualizations should tell a clear message, be intuitive to the reader (often a less technical audience), and should not be misleading.
In this session, we will help you become more effective in visualizing your data, and translating raw numbers into actionable insights. These are fundamental principles and techniques that can be used in any analytics platform, not limited to Microsoft Excel or Power BI.
